Maker Assembly and the British Council held a full day of talks and workshops in March at Custom Lane to mark the end of the Maker Library Network and mark the launch of the new bilateral exchange programme Hello Shenzen.
The event brought together over 100 creatives from across the world to discuss the themes of networking within creative communities, the role of making within design and the impact of making focused initiatives.

Live panel discussions from creative speakers took place throughout the day from Fi Scott of Make Works, Hannah Fox of Derby Silk Mill, Engin Ayaz from the Maker Library in Istanbul and Jo Ashbridge from architecture charity AzuKo.
A series of participatory workshop sessions were led by designers Silo Studio, Jasleen Kaur, Helen Steer and Micaella Pedros all aimed at creating a discussion around design and exploring collaboration and creativity through the making process.
The Maker Library Network project was set up by British Council as a way of engaging with communities and creative makers on an international level linking like-minded professionals, designers, architects and organisations through the act of making.
