A bespoke ring making session created for Trading Post by artist and jeweller, Stefanie Cheong.

Artist jeweller, Stefanie Cheong, guides you through the process of making and finishing a silver ring, fitted to your finger size.

Each ring will be fabricated from 100% recycled silver wire and you can choose from round, flat, rectangular or square, according to the style of ring you wish to make.

Each attendee will learn:

– to cut with a jewellers saw frame
– to use torches to solder the ring closed
– filing
– hammering
– to complete by using a finishing technique such as sanding, polishing and oxidising.

No previous experience is required and all materials are provided.

Since Graduating from Glasgow School of Art in 2013 with a degree in Silversmithing and Jewellery, Stefanie Cheong has organically developed a portfolio career spanning Jewellery and Object design and making, teaching, craft development and curatorial practice.

Stefanie uses Fair Trade recycled metals along with found rocks collected throughout the UK.

Interested in the way people interact with objects, her designs are often transformable or component based, allowing the work to be worn and exhibited with multiple possibilities.
