Custom Lane invites you to join Mark Thomann of wHY Landscape as part of the Talks at the Lane series.

wHY is an interdisciplinary design practice dedicated to serving the arts, communities, culture and the environment. Based in the USA, with offices in New York & Los Angeles.

wHY are the lead for the team that won the competition to redevelop the Ross Pavilion in West Princes St Gardens, Edinburgh. This is now known as the Quaich Project. This is in collaboration with Groves-Raines Architects / GRAS, Arups, Studio Yann Kersalé, O Street, Stuco, Creative Concern, Noel Kingsbury, Atelier Ten and Lawrence Barth with Alan Cumming, Aaron Hicklin, Beatrice Colin, Peter Ross, Alison Watson and Adrian Turpin.

The Quaich Project aims to bring people together to celebrate Edinburgh’s status as one the world’s most beautiful, welcoming and vibrant capitals – generating new connections both locally and internationally.

Mark Thomann is landscape director at wHY. Mark will present an intimate look at wHY’s Ross Pavilion & Gardens, the firm’s first project in Europe. Mark will also touch upon other recent works by the firm, and lessons learned from a career in landscape design.

This talk follows on from Izat Arundell & Collaborators, Rural Office for Architecture, STUDIO NIRO, Clancy Moore, Assemble Studio & Karl-Heinz Schmitz.

The next Talk in the series is by IF_DO on 14.06.19 with tickets available here.

Please come and share a drink and some thoughts with us, and as usual light refreshments are provided for our guests.
